Project title: Establishing a historical thematic park of Peter the Great Marine

Backround of the project: Russian czar started to build defensive structure on the Gulf of Finland at Tallinn-Porkala line in 1912. Those coastal batteries and dry-land castles were called Marine fortress of Emperor Peter the Great. The aim of these works was to protect Petersburg from the boats of enemies. Concrete-dugouts and below-ground tunnels were established around Tallinn in 1912-1917.

It is planned to tidy up the defensive structure positions and roads that connects them, including historical dike-ways; to evaluate constructional conditions and to identify conditions of heritage protection of Suurupi, Viti, Humala and Kiia (Vääna-Posti).
Objectives of the project: Reconstructions of historical cultural heritage, which can be military sight and also a tourism object. To create advantageous opportunities to spend leisure time and to develop tourism in Harku and Saue parish, using historical Peter the Great Marine Fortress works, creating adequate hiking and recreation trails, signposting them and publishing historical prints.

To tidy up the thematic park. To start with follow-up projects in the area - learn in nature. Carrying out history lessons, presenting different historic methods and to design a study-method - "From theory to practice".
Main activities: Creating a concept and carrying out analysis for the thematic park. Planning a concept for light-traffic roads. Locating information blanks near objects, adequate signposts near biggest roads and centres, marking hiking-trails, creating hiking and recreation areas; and publishing thematic information-sheets and maps of hiking-trails so that people could see and visit the objects by themselves.
Output and results indicators: The result of this project: the number of employments will increase, local people will appreciate their community more, the awareness and motivation of pupils will be raised, raising an overall awareness.
