The Rural Economy Research Centre is a state agency administered by the Ministry of Agriculture.
The main fields of activity of the Rural Economy Research Centre are the following:
- organisation of the collection of the data necessary to analyse the economic activity of the agricultural producers included in the Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN), to process and analyse those data. The Rural Economy Research Centre also performs the duties imposed on a FADN contact agency;
- Departments of Rural Network and Fisheries Network organizes, collects, analyzes and disseminates knowledge about its subject field and other events, that are needed for the action and promotion of Rural- and Fisheris Network.
- The Rural Economy Research Centre also performs the duties of a supporting structure to the Leader-programme local action groups.
- The Rural Economy Research Centre performs the duties of the body of attestation of professional qualifications (KOO) and organises the work of the professional qualifications committee.
