We are pleased to invite you to the next Network to Innovate webinar, "New Innovative Technologies in Forestry", where experts from Nordic-Baltic countries will present practical examples of innovative technologies that are transforming modern forestry.

The event will showcase how digital tools, wearable technologies, remote sensing methods, and precision forestry solutions can improve working conditions, support decision-making, increase efficiency, and contribute to more sustainable forest management.

Confirmed presentations

An Exoskeleton for Supporting Lower Limbs in Brush Cutting (Clearing) - Kimmo Vänni, Häme University of Applied Sciences (Finland)

This presentation provides an overview of a lower-limb support exoskeleton developed to reduce physical strain in forestry maintenance tasks such as brush cutting and tree planting. Participants will learn about the development process, collaboration network, and the potential of wearable technologies to improve working conditions and productivity in forestry.

Precision Forestry Management - Andrejs Zujevs, Riga Technical University (Latvia)

This presentation will introduce ongoing activities related to precision forestry, including examples from EIP-AGRI Operational Group projects involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and digital applications. The speaker will highlight how emerging technologies can support data-driven and sustainable forest management.

Selected Remote Sensing Methods Used in Polish Forestry - Dr Ewa Kurowska and Dr hab. inż. Bernard Okoński, Poznań University of Life Sciences (Poland)

This presentation will provide a practical overview of selected remote sensing technologies used in Polish forestry. Through examples of digital timber measurement and airborne laser scanning (ALS), participants will gain insight into how modern data collection methods support forest management, monitoring, and planning.

New Opportunities within the European Partnership for Forests, forestry, and the forest-based sector: Research and innovation for a Sustainable Transition (FOREST) - Mika Kallio, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland

This presentation offers a brief introduction to the European Partnership Forests and Forestry for a Sustainable Future. Participants will learn about upcoming opportunities for international cooperation, research, and innovation, as well as ways for forest sector actors to become involved in future partnership activities.

Whether you are a researcher, advisor, practitioner, policymaker, or innovator, this event offers an excellent opportunity to learn about emerging forestry technologies and exchange experiences with colleagues from across Europe.
