The LEADER Transnational Cooperation Awards collected 60 applications from participating countries.

The first selection of the nominated Nordic-Baltic Leader transnational cooperation projects is now done!

The finalists of the five categories were chosen out of 60 nominees in Roskilde, Denmark on the 6th June 2013. The evaluation committee included the representatives of Estonia, Lithuanian, Latvia, Swedish, Finnish and Danish rural networks.

  
TOURISM - CULTRIPS. Creating a New Concept for Socio-cultural Village Trips in Europe
   

The project of interpersonal exchange through cultural trips in Europe is based on a new concept of socio-cultural exchange and tourism in rural areas. CULTrips activity is based on local level action for developing socio-cultural tourism. Local actors will explore their own communities, present interesting elements of their communities and its activities and receive guests from partner regions. During the project the new concept of socio-cultural tourism was developed via six pilot trips and other activities. Three or four days regional and thematic programs for intra-European cultural trips were elaborated by local groups and evaluated by visiting foreign test persons. As a result the manual for developing socio-cultural travelling was elaborated. Some products are shaped for marketing phase with tourist agencies active in sustainable tourism. More info HERE

TOURISM - Mustaparta Archipelago and Tornio Valley
    The ’Mustaparta archipelago and Tornio valley’ is an international business development project. It´s roots extend back to the 18th century, when Finland and Sweden was the same country as well Tornio and Haparanda the same town and Tornio Valley a hole province. Now we have the border between us. Our common, historical hero was Iisakki Mustaparta (Isac Blackbeard) is a good premise to do cultureproducts for tourism. A few prominent entrepreneurs have spotted the potential for good products, and the related marketing and profitable sales, in the spirit of Mustaparta. More info HERE

TOURISM - Nature Tourism Project
    Partner areas all have rurality as a core issue and seek to overcome economic fragility through the promotion of the natural and cultural tourism assets in their areas via responsible tourism.
Partner areas are able to learn from the experiences and lessons of the other regions some of whom already have experience to share. Each area hosts a nature/cultural tourism conference. Representatives from tourism businesses in their area attend. Learning about best practice in tourism, networking with other tourism businesses and experience local tourism. Delegates make suggestions to develop products based on the knowledge they bring from the partner area. More info HERE

TOURISM - Re-creation of the Landscape / TEAM
    Project TEAM (Tourism - Ecology – Activity – Management). Project TEAM consisting of cooperation with the LAG in Belgium, is the bilateral identification and transfer of good practices. From the Belgian apply to practices of landscaping and landscape management in the rural areas, from the Polish explore the possibility of transferring innovations used in the Belgian tourism to Polish rural areas, and the use of new, unknown in Poland intersectoral collaboration methods. The apply the exchange of experience that took place in the first stage of the project (2010-2012), Bialskopodlaska LAG implement innovative marking bike routes longer than 1000 km based on accomplishments of partners and create innovative form of three-sector collaboration: “House of the Region”. Partners during the project involved various groups of stakeholders: youth, persons managing the region, members of non-governmental organizations and business in such a way to maintain the sustainability and the development of the project in the future. Summary: Art Association ITU and artists group Schaufenster Freistadt had workshops, cultural tours and exhibitions both in Finland and Austria 2011. The cooperation has been planned to continue.
In addition Finnish artist group visited Latvia. The attractions were Open-Air Art Museum at Pedvale and museums, exhibitions and ateliers both in Talsi and Riga. During the visit four textile artisans got invitation to have exhibition in Riga and artist group from Talsi and Pedvele will visit Finland summer 2013 to plan future cooperation.
