Professor Imre Kovach (Professor of Sociology, Debrecen University) has participated in different research teams to study rural development, LEADER approach and other forms of activation of rural communities.
In his lecture he will focus on the emergence of a late-modern phenomenon called the ‘project class’ and on the new social/power positions which have emerged as a result both of specific rural development projects and programmes and of more general sociocultural transformations. This new notion of ‘projectification’, which will be explored through social science research, addresses the idea that projects, as forms of organisation and management, have increased, principally during the past decades, to become postmodern symbols of adaptability and contingency.
