| Backround of the project: |
Tartu county's milk producers co-operative was acknowledged as a producer group in 12th August 2010.
The co-operative was established to commonly market the products/milk of milk producing entrepreneurs near Võrtsjärv. As if spring 2012 the co-operative has 16 members - all together 2300 dairy cows. Most of the entrepreneurs have problems with milk realization: buyer kept the prices low, prizes varied (fluctuated), sometimes the money receiving process took 2 months (sometimes even more). |
| Objectives of the project: |
The aim was to establish an co-operative which enables to have a common discussion with buyers about stable and acceptable prices and shortening the time on money receiving process.
Also developing the co-operative as a producer group. |
| Main activities: |
Establishing a co-operative which is currently well developed and successful.
The milk is marketed by the co-operative which guarantees the stable prices for producers, also the money-flow is faster now. Producers are more satisfied.
The members of co-operative have participated at relevant trainings, thus the milk has better quality now.
The members are commonly purchasing necessary inputs (rapeseed cake, fertilizers) - it allows to get lower prices from the producers' point of view. |

Tartu county's milk producers co-operative is operative and serves the interests of its' members with no excessive public attention, and does it in a sustainable way. |

The development of co-operative is a good example of potentiality and productivity of co-operative work. |
