| Backround of the project: | All got started from youth own initiative. They started with rock-evenings and educative lectures about rock history in Vana-Koiola culture house. The range of different activities extended and young people started to find more activities to express themselves. The need for it arose from the fact that youth bands didn't have any opportunities to perform. Only those with experiences could perform to audience. Young people had hard times to start their "career". Leader programme supported the undertaking in which youth bands who have just started making music could perform on bigger stages. |
| Objectives of the project: | Project gave an opportunity to local youth to do something together. The created value was a traditional music festival for local youth. Everybody could participate as a performer, as an audience or even as a voluntary helper. Project participants will gain experiences which give good base to organize new projects and events in future. The most important aspect of the project was the organizational and financial part. They got some contacts with youth-bands over the Estonia. The accent of the event was on youth bands who don't have enough output and opportunities to perform yet. The bands need to have strong artistic level. There is a previous selection about the artistic level to give youth an opportunity to get use to the idea of performing on big stage. It is really important to avoid the failure on big stage because in this case very many talented young musicians could quit the musician career. |
| Main activities: | There is an active young musicians festival which have found leverage in all over the Estonia. Communication in youth musicians home pages like Rada7 has been a great contributor to the event. The organizers have received some information that there are many youth bands in Estonia who are unknown and the project has helped to contribute on their career on big stages. |
| Output and results indicators: | There is now a network of young musicians in the area who help to organize the event "Laheda Rock" and are actively communicating with other musicians in Estonia. There is Laheda Rock Club which is working all year round and the members of it meet at Vana-Koiola culture house. In addition to that there are now many different joint activities that aren't related to music. Many young people and grown-ups visit the area more often and thereby the area develops. |
