The aim of the project is to offer trainings and information for improving the knowledge and skills of target group. |
| Main activities: |
The aim of the training "Diversifying the rural entrepreneurship" (in 2009) was to contribute on diversifying and raising the competitiveness of rural entrepreneurship. The themes of the training targeted entrepreneurs to develop their business by using strategic changes, to find innovative ways to find bigger value for agricultural products and for improving marketing processes. In addition to 8 training days, they developed a special training programme and tutors instructed 10 entrepreneurs. The training had 17 participants - rural entrepreneurs and farmers.
The aim of the training "Development of farm products" (in 2010) was to find different opportunities in product development, including food producing entrepreneurs, research- and development activity practices in Estonian University of Life Sciences, and in package designing and pricing. This training had 16 participants - mostly farmers.
The training "New products - new opportunities" (in 2011) aimed to encourage new products launching the market - 20 entrepreneurships have gained new knowledge about marketing management, rooting HACCAP, processing fruits and berries, baking and making pastries, processing meat and vegetables etc. They also published a brochure in June 2011 about rural entrepreneurs - "Farm Food of Põlva County".
The aim of the information days "Joint marketing and sales of agricultural- and food products" held in 2012 was to present farmers and small food producers different opportunities how to make the maximum out of their activities (including managing the producing processes, and organizing food safety and hygiene of small food producers), how to manage joint marketing, co-operative activities, direct sales and better customer relationships. There were also 10 trainings, participated by 26 agricultural- and food producers.
The aim of the publication "About the small producers marketing. How to pop-out behind the gigantic actors?" published in November 2012 was to share knowledge about marketing through practical examples. The publication will be distributed for free to small-entrepreneurs and other interested parties in all over of Estonia. |
| Output and results indicators: |
The most important achievement is that the small agricultural- and food producers of Põlva county are more and more active with every year, and the network keeps expanding. The new knowledge is used in following activities: the entrepreneurs who participated at the project have developed and created new (food)products, they now realize the importance of packaging, they know how to notice and use raw material, and there is now a tighter cooperation in producing and common marketing sphere. Also the network of Greener Mark of Põlva County has grow bigger.
The added value is that the area of Põlva county can be now identified by tasty and acknowledgeable food products. Thus the small entrepreneurships are now contributing on the improving the reputation of their area - moreover, they are designing and consolidating the reputation of Põlva county as a green one. |
| Experiences/lessons learned: |
Only single training can't cause big changes. Developments are more noticeable and longstanding when the activities are continual. |
