| Backround of the project: |
Lääne county's young musicians camp and concerto in Lihula started with the help of Leader measure in 2009 and continued in 2010. It is also planned to have a similar event in 2011. Project implementers have wrote a new Leader project in every year - it has been gradually improved and developed. The camp lasts for four days. |
| Objectives of the project: |
The aim of the project is to offer an opportunity to meet, participate, create and experience to young people. To join, network and tie young people with local identity through the musical creative camp. The project idea arose from a wish to offer something to youth which would be interesting for them and would give a push for further continuation of creative activities. The project idea arose from an idea to offer something new and inflaming for youth who are interested in music, an opportunity to be a musician, to play some instrument, make a band and then perform to audience. |

Preparing and carrying through a four-days training camp and concerto for Lääne county's young musicians. |
| Output and results indicators: |
Organizing creative camp for Lääne county's youth who are interested in music in 2009 ans 2010. There was about 45 participants in 2009 and 50 - in 2010. They had the opportunity to hear some acknowledge from professional musicians, to get some new experiences and make friends. There were workshops and meetings with musicians and performers who shared some back-round information about making music, choices, opportunities, creation, concertos, etc. Participants heard others experiences, shared some tips and encouraged each other to make the first step into unfamiliar and interesting world.
Young people formed some musical groups and had to create a new song with original lyrics and music. The whole process was observed and guided by the organizers. There was a big outdoor concerto on the third day of both camps where newborn bands could perform their new songs. |
| Experiences/lessons learned: |
There was a follow-up event - Lääne County Youth Band Festival - Bändkämp Live 2010, in 26.03 Lihula culture centre. There were 10 youth bands and also some guest artists on the stage.
The camp and festival is a favourite event in spring and in summer for young musicians which has gained popularity from all over the county. Young people really wait this and make preparations for the event. Some new bands and temporary projects have started, the standard of bands have raised and young people dare to experiment more. Some young people have become voluntary workers and helpers who get more and more responsible tasks in connection with organizing the event. |
