| Backround of the project: |
Since now there haven't been any mini or student companies in Lääne-Viru county. It is really important to share experiences, skills and acknowledge with youth which would develop their business activity.
A project idea was created in Sõmeru municipality to attract local people into entrepreneurship. NGO Sõmeru Start in cooperation with Junior Achievement Development fund foundation carried out many activities in local area to teach the youth how to establish student and mini-companies. These are the companies which are established for one to two years and work with help of specific advisors. |
| Objectives of the project: |
The aim of this project is to preserve, recover and raise the living environment quality in villages through raising local youth activeness and enterprisingness.
These established student and mini companies participated at Estonian student companies seminar-fair where the Näpi mini company PUH received a prize "The Best Mini company. The activity of village-youth has raised and a direct experience has received thanks to the experiences in dealing with student and mini companies.
The advisors training that was a part of the project gave the knowledge for grown-ups which could be used in further to create student- and mini enterprises. |
| Main activities: |
The first activity of the project was a training for student and mini companies instructors. 25 people did pass the courses. To develop the activity of student and mini companies many information days and working-rooms were carried out in region; and good practical hints were shared in many ways. |
| Output and results indicators: |
Different acknowledge and skills about handicrafts and economy were gained at the trainings. One mini company and three student companies were operating and gaining experiences. Mini company PUH got the first prize at the competition of mini companies for presenting the travelling pillow. All three mini companies did participate on this competition. Also instructors gained some good knowledge which will help them to carry on with developing the entrepreneurship in rural areas. |
| Experiences/lessons learned: |
At the end of the project, many entrepreneurial rural young people have received experience in basic economic education and participating in a student or mini-company, numbers of adults have a license and experience in leading a student or mini-company.
As a result of the project, three student or mini-companies were established, out of which the mini-company “PUH” received the title of the best mini-company in Estonia at the training-exhibition of Estonian Student Companies. Project workshops have connected people in rural communities, facilitated the development of village life and increase in the entrepreneurial spirit of young people. |
