On behalf of the European Commission, and in the framework of the Leader+ Community Initiative, we are pleased to inform you that the European Observatory of rural areas is organising the forthcoming conference:
„Leader achievements: a diversity of territorial experience”, on the 22 – 23 November 2007 (21 November 2007 optional field-visits) in Évora, Portugal.
This conference will provide strong political messages as a legacy of the Leader initiative for the future of Europe’s rural areas to the policy makers at EU, national and regional level, in order to ensure successful mainstreaming of the Leader method in the new Rural Development Programmes. The conference, as a last event organised in the framework of the Leader+ Community Initiative, will present a diversity of Leader implementation and achievements in 16 different European territories.

Your participation in the conference is only guaranteed upon receipt of a letter of confirmation. Due to the limited number of places available, the number of attendees is restricted. There is only one place allocated for a representative from each participating LAG; National Network Unit; national and regional Managing Authority. Further places might become available. In this case you will be informed of the outcome in October.

The European Commission will organise and finance travel for a certain number of participants from LAGs on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, for whom the travel expenses, actually incurred to attend the Leader+ Event organised by the European Commission, are not eligible costs within the framework of Leader+ programme or the Leader-type measure (for the new Member States).
